He holds multiple important positions, including Executive Director of the Chinese Nutrition Society, Chairman of the Nutrition and Neuroscience Branch of the Chinese Nutrition Society, Vice President of the Tianjin Health Management Association, and Vice President of the Tianjin Nutrition Society. He also serves as an editorial board member of journals such as Asia Pac J Clin Nutr, J Nutr Biochem, Acta Nutrimenta Sinica, and Chinese Journal of Preventive Medicine.
His research focuses on the fields of "Nutrition and Diseases" and "Nutrition and Neuroscience". He has presided over 22 scientific research projects, including 2 key projects and 5 general projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. As the corresponding author, he has published more than 120 SCI-indexed papers.He has won the second and third prizes of the Tianjin Science and Technology Progress Award. He participated in the revision of the Dietary Reference Intakes for Chinese Residents (2013 Edition and 2023 Edition). He is the chief editor of 5 textbooks, including the 8th edition of Preventive Medicine in the planned textbook series of the National Health Commission; the vice chief editor of the 7th, 8th, and 9th editions of Nutrition and Food Hygiene in the planned textbook series of the National Health Commission; and the vice chief editor of the 5th, 6th, and 7th editions of Preventive Medicine in the planned textbook series of the National Health Commission.
Prof. Lin received her PhD degree from Division of Nutritional Science at Cornell University. She was later a Postdoctoral Research Fellow of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University. Prof. Lin became a professor, group leader and doctoral supervisor in Institute for Nutritional Sciences since she returned to China in 2003. From 2008 to 2016, Prof. Lin became the Director of Key Laboratory of Nutrition and Metabolism of Chinese Academy of Sciences. She has now established the first genome-wide association studies and multi-omics prospective cohort database of diabetes in China, and conducted series of nutritional interventions. Her research group has made significant progress in metabolic diseases associated genetic nutritional factors, multi-omics molecular biomarkers, early prediction and personalized nutritional intervention. She has published over 90 peer-reviewed scientific papers in internationally renowned journals in the field of genetics, nutrition, epidemiology, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. She was listed as the most cited scholar in China in 2014 and 2015 by Elsevier. She serves as a member of many international organizations and scientific journals. She is now a co-editor-in-chief of Nutrition and Metabolism (IF=3.25, Springer Nature).

He has won the Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award (Third Class) twice. In 2010, he was honored with the Chinese Ophthalmological Society Award by the Ophthalmology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association. In 2021, he received the "People's Famous Doctor – Outstanding Achievement Award" jointly presented by People's Daily, People's Daily Health Client, and Health Times. Also in 2021, he was awarded the "Industry-Academia-Research Craftsmanship Award" by the Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Innovation and Promotion Award Committee of the China Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Promotion Association.
